What area to live in after halls

If you are still looking for a house next year, this guide should hopefully help you pick which area is best for you to live in. As it can be overwhelming choosing your next house, that’s why we have split this guide up into areas to help you choose which area would be best suited for you.

City Centre

Newcastle city centre is always lively, and there is always something to do! Therefore, this does reflect in the prices for this area, as they may be more expensive. However, you will have everything on your doorstep, with only a short walk to both universities.

Jesmond

Jesmond is a lively student area, however it has a mixture of families and students. Wherever you live, you will at some point end up on Osborne road, the legendary road of bars, hotels and restaurants. A little further walk to the city and universities, however, Jesmond has everything you need from Tesco, Waitrose, a pharmacy to Starbucks and a fine Wine Shop for those ‘rahs’. If you are feeling a little lazy, Jesmond has 2 metro stations, so you can easily hop on and be in town within 5 minutes.

Sandyford

Sandyford is a great middle way to Jesmond and the city. It is walking distance to both universities, however it is particularly popular with Northumbria University students. Affordable properties located in Sandyford, yet still benefiting from both Jesmond and the city centre.

Heaton

Heaton is a little further out, however the prices reflect this. It does have great transport links, and it is still walking distance to universities and the city centre. With Chilllingham Road offering quirky cafés and restaurants suited for students. It also has a large park perfect for picnics in the summer months.
