It is the first week in December and things are really starting to look Christmassy now. So we thought we would create a list of things you can do at christmas in Newcastle.
Everyone who knows Newcastle knows that the Fenwick’s window is a big deal and it is officially the start of Christmas in Newcastle! The window attracts thousands of people every year and is always a magical showcase. This year’s theme is Paddington bear, a great storyboard for all ages. A must see in Newcastle!
The Christmas markets are also a great event in Newcastle upon Tyne. A great place to find some unusual and special Christmas gifts for family and friends. Or why not fill up on some different and exciting foods; for example, why not try a kangaroo burger or a wild boar burger? Yet nothing will finish the night off quite like a glass of mulled wine! Nothing says Christmas quite like this!
The Hadrian’s Tipi are back, and they are bigger and better than ever. Set in a new venue at the old Odeon site. New and exciting extras are here this year, including German market huts, and food vendors like; Foul Play Chicken, Fat Hippo, Al Baik, Wood & Kindle, Hatch76, German Swing Grill, It’s R place coffee co, the Lakes distillery and Quaff Box. A great place to chill out and relax!
Times Square ice rink is here for another year, a big outdoor ice rink ready for you to enjoy. And it’s not christmas in Newcastle if the ice rink isn’t up! But beware, if you are wanting to go on a busy time, then we would advise to book to avoid disappointment. You don’t need to be able to skate, as there are experienced ice marshals there to help anyone who needs it.
Don’t fear about Christmas shopping, as Eldon Square has started their late night shopping. From Monday 4th December, the times have changed. Here is the list of the new Christmas times;
Monday – Friday: 9am – 9pm
Saturday: 9am – 7pm
Sunday: 11am – 5pm
Christmas eve: 11am – 5pm
Christmas day: Closed
Boxing day: 9am – 6pm
FROM WEDNESDAY 27TH DECEMBER
Usual mid-day week hours apply: 9am – 8pm
Saturday 30th December: 9am – 7pm
New year’s eve: 11am – 5pm
New year’s day: Closed
