Let’s go to the Beach!

Let’s go to the Beach!
summer in Newcastle

Most students have probably left for the year now, however, if you are one of the few who have stayed in Newcastle, then don’t worry there is plenty to do here in the North East.

Newcastle city centre is great, full of life, but sometimes you need to escape the hectic centre! So why not go to the great beaches we have to offer in the North East.

The North East coast has great transport links, so it is easy to get to even if you don’t have a car!

Tynemouth

If you are heading by metro, be sure to get off in Tynemouth on a Saturday and Sunday. Every weekend Tynemouth metro station comes alive with market traders selling everything you could imagine!

Then head to the centre and grab yourself some fish and chips along the way down to the beach. We suggest Riley’s Fish Shack, its famous for its local fabulous fish! Right on King Edwards Bay, so it can’t be missed!

Tynemouth has a beautiful priory for those looking to inject some culture to their weekend!

If you are looking to have a drink, take a look at Lola Jeans, they do great food and great drinks! A quirky little place not to be missed!

Remember to walk down to the lighthouse for a lovely walk and some great views along the bay. Why not get the metro and get off at Tynemouth, then have a nice relaxing walk along the beaches to Cullercoats, then get back on the metro there?

South Shields

South Shields is cut off from Tynemouth by the River Tyne. For a different day out, why not get the metro to North shields, then get the ferry across the river to South Shields. When you are there, save your pennies and head down to the arcade, a great day out for everyone!

If you are looking for a beautiful beach to go to nearby, then head down to Marsden beach. No matter what time of the year it is, it’s always beautiful and clean. A great little spot for fishing and crabbing, so remember to take your fishing rod with you!

Don’t forget to look out for the lot’s sea stack, a historical and biblical figure of the pillar of salt.

Whitley Bay

A quirky little town, Whitley Bay has its own metro station, so it is easy to access by transport. A key point of destination we recommend is St Marys Island, this is a tidal island. Home to the towns famous landmark of the lighthouse. Be sure to take a trip to there!

These beaches are on the metro line, taking around 25minutes from Jesmond metro station. If you would like to view flats in Jesmond for rent, take a look here, these properties are both close to the city centre, the metro station and other local transport link.
