Deck the halls and watch this years Christmas light switch on with your nearest and dearest! Soak up the festive atmosphere of the city with this annual Newcastle tradition on Thursday 8th November on Grey Street at the base of Grey’s Monument. An estimated 20,000 festive lights will illuminate the popular shopping streets of the city and beyond. #2 Ice Skating

Life Science Centre, Times Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 4EP

#3 Newcastle Christmas Market

Finally, Newcastle’s Christmas Market dates have been confirmed and we can’t wait! This year the market will be running in the heart of the city centre at Grey’s Monument from Friday 16th November to Sunday 16th December. The market has an array of delicious international food stalls, gift sellers, local traders and promises to be bigger than ever this year! Embrace the festive feels with a wander around the market, try some good grub and even pick up some prezzies!

#4 Hadrian’s Tipi

Each year a huge Scandinavian style tipi is erected in Newcastle offering up boozy, festive fun and it’s back once again! The much loved tipi is situated in the centre of Stack Newcastle and offers up a great spot to take a break from the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping, or a cosy evening of mulled wine. It’s a winter pop up retreat that cannot be missed!

#5 Make your own bauble!
