Student flats in Jesmond are perfect as Jesmond is the jewel in the cities crown crammed with bars, restaurants and shops. Student housing in Jesmond does come with a price as rents can be more expensive here. However, you can house share with a larger group to drop down the price of your rent, as they are larger houses in this area. Yet, be warned as your place might be the party house!
All of the houses and student flats in Jesmond are in close proximity to Osborne Rd which has many of Jesmond’s bars, bistros and restaurants while Acorn Rd is the place to go for your everyday items including supermarkets, general dealers, fast food and clothing. Another place to check out is Brentwood Avenue, only a short walk away from Osborne Road here you will find bespoke delis, coffee shops and restaurants with a bit more of a laid back culture. Clayton Road also offers swanky breakfast bars, retail shops and a beauty clinic.
Jesmond Dene gifted to the city many years ago is a great place to visit on a sunny day, if you feel like a stroll along the river and woodland. The area separates Jesmond from the lively student area of Heaton (see Student Flats Heaton).
Due to its large student houses and close proximity to the city centre, it’s always a good place to find a student flat or student house in Jesmond. There is also a great option of house shares for professionals or students and if you want to keep your rent down this maybe the best option. The area is linked to the region’s Metro system which gets you into the city centre in less than 10 minutes. If you want to live in a vibrant and decidedly ‘cool’ place then Jesmond is THE place to be.
Either start or finish your night off here, this place attracts both students and professionals and on a chilly evening you can sit outdoors on the heated terrace. Osborne’s is also notorious for its £2 Tuesday’s where you can get selected pints, wines, spirits, shots and bombs for only £2, from 5pm until close. Ginspirational Mondays, Whisky Wednesdays and Throwback Thursdays are also popular nights.
Billabong Bar & Bistro is situated on Osborne Road and is open from 10am daily. It is the perfect spot for some Gin and Tonics in the sunshine, with its comfy outdoor seating area.
Alongside its burgers, Spy Bar is also renowned for its lively atmosphere and cheap drink deals. With at least one happening each day, Spy Bar takes Happy Hour very seriously. The ‘Push the Button’ styled happy hour allows players to be in for the chance of winning a free round, or 2-4-1 drinks!
Bar Blanc can be found at the end of Osborne Road. With cocktails from £3.95, cheap spirits and glasses of wine for £3.00, there really is a multitude of deals to choose from. With £2 Tuesday’s and daily happy hours, students really are spoilt with choice in Jesmond!
The Lonsdale is situated in West Jesmond opposite the metro station. It is the perfect place to start off your night. With Pub Quizzes on Sundays and Thursdays, The Lonsdale is a great place to socialise with friends, and show off your general knowledge.
This beautiful venue offers delicious versions of pub classics. With locally sourced ingredients, fireplaces and grandfather chairs, 97 and Social offers the perfect hangover cure. With its unique take on the traditional Afternoon Tea, the ‘tipsy tea party’ is also a fun opportunity to taste a selection of sandwiches, cakes, scones and spirits with your friends!
